The first edition of the Bungoma Agribusiness Expo will be kicking off on May 13 at Posta Grounds in Bungoma with the participation of major agricultural aggregators, local farmers, and investors from Bungoma.
In association with Kenya Climate Innovation Centre, KCIC, the County Government of Bungoma welcomes producers, suppliers, and distributors to the Expo. The one-day event promotes the agribusiness industry, educates youth and women, links farmers to markets, and offers consumers affordable organic farm products. The Expo begins the morning of Friday, 13, and runs through to the evening.
The one of its kind AgriBiz Expo in Bungoma is a relatively small show for agricultural products, equipment, demonstrations, and processes. The event is a good source of agricultural information and creates market linkages for clients in the AgriBiz program.
The show will include 100 booths featuring clients supported by KCIC from Bungoma County. The Exhibitors will be showcasing a package of exclusive offers and exceptional discounts on organic and sustainable farm products and services. They will showcase their products to stakeholders from Bungoma County, off-takers of agricultural products (companies, Retailers, and supermarkets), and the people of Bungoma.
With the current economic pressure combined with the health crisis exacerbated by the effects of the COVID -19 pandemic, consumers are demanding organic and affordable food alternatives. The organizers of the AgriBiz expo elaborated that the exhibition aims to offer off-takers an opportunity to experience the taste of healthy and organic foods, network and support local Farmers and explore new technologies in the Agricultural Space. In addition, it hopes to record high sales for farmers and provide networks with unique market linkages for their products.
Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC), in partnership with European Union (E.U.) and the Danish International Development Agency (Danida), launched the AgriBiz program on March 6, 2020. The Bungoma business incubation hub was launched on March 29, 2022, at Mabanga Agricultural Training Center. After a successful call for applications for the Cohort 3 Bungoma Business Incubation Hub, 100 clients were onboarded for support.
The Friday workshop is one of the goals of the programme to ensure that AgriBiz clients are linked to markets through exhibitions and B2B forums. Moreover, the expo offers young people and women in the agricultural value chain a chance to showcase their innovations and new technologies that can help improve the sector.
The event which will be graced by the County Governor of Bungoma, representation from the European Union and the Danish Embassy and KCIC staff is free and open to the public, Bungoma County residents, residents of Bungoma neighboring counties, large off takers and buyers like supermarkets, aggregators, processors, schools, hospitals, county offices, groceries and hotels.
With plenty to see and do in 2022, exhibitors and attendees alike are gearing up for a better-than-ever Expo experience.
