Agrisolar, the productive use of solar energy across
agricultural value chains for irrigation, agro-processing,
cooling, and storage, offers a transformative pathway
to address the water-energy-food (WEF) nexus in East
Africa. Harnessing the region's high solar irradiance
(2,000–2,500 kWh/m2/year), solar-powered
technologies can simultaneously reduce production
costs, strengthen food security, and advance national
climate commitments.
