Mr. Edward Mungai is the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC). KCIC supports a holistic country driven approach to accelerate the development, deployment and transfer of locally relevant climate technologies to the private sector. Before joining KCIC, Edward was the East Africa Region head for the Danish International Investments Fund. He has worked for KPMG East Africa in Corporate finance and Transactions services focusing on the financial services sector.
Edward has a multifaceted background in Business Advisory, Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Investment management. Edward is passionate about sustainable development and the role of the private sector as a driver for sustainable development in Africa. He has thorough experience in development financing mechanisms for the private sector, with special interests in the agribusiness, renewable energy, financial services, and water and sanitation sectors. Edward is a 2016 Eisenhower Fellow and sits on several boards as well as a faculty member at Strathmore Business School where he teaches Corporate Sustainability and Innovation to executives.
Funfact: Edward is an avid marathoner and is a Six Star Finisher in the Abbott World Marathon Majors
