ClimateLaunchPad(CLP) is the world’s largest green business idea competition. CLP’s mission is to unlock the world’s clean tech potential that addresses climate change. The objective is to support early stage businesses to grow their ideas into viable businesses that respond to the effects of Climate Change. For the first time outside of Europe, the ClimateLaunchPad (CLP) is being held in Africa, Kenya being hosted by the Kenya Climate Innovation Centre (KCIC).

After selection of 15 participants from 63 entries submitted for the competition, KCIC is hosting the boot camp on the 26th and 27th July at the Strathmore Business School. On the two days, the participants will interact first hand with the founder of CLP, Frans Nauta, who will be the lead trainer in the two-day boot camp. The training aims at equipping the participants with skills to run their clean tech businesses. This is based on the belief that climate change will be tackled by deliberate investment and supporting of clean tech ideas. The two-day boot camp is an intensive training aiming to cover 10 modules and with an objective of supporting and teaching the entrepreneurs the art of running clean tech enterprises into successful businesses that will create returns while at the same time creating substantial contribution to the mitigation and adaptation to climate change.

The boot- camp will be followed by 6weeks intensive combination of face-to-face and online training in preparation for the national finals, where 3 successful businesses will be selected to represent the country in the international finals in Cyprus in October.

Beyond the CLP competition process KCIC is committed to supporting any other promising businesses that will be identified from the competition through the center’s incubation and accelerator program.

By taking a lead in bringing the ClimateLaunchPad to Africa, Kenya is creating a revolution of clean tech enterprises that will be committed to respond to the effects of climate change.
