Kenya Climate Innovation Centre (KCIC)’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Edward Mungai is among 24 African leaders selected for the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship (EF) 2016 Program.
The 24 visionary African leaders working in government, business and civil society across eight countries, will embark on a seven-week journey throughout the United States to engage in a transformative exchange of knowledge and ideas with the leading minds in their fields.
Mr. Mungai is leading the push for clean technologies in Kenya.KCIC, provides company incubation, capacity building and financing to entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions in renewable energy, water, and agribusiness.
KCIC currently supports 135 green businesses, directly employing 2,100 people. These companies provide 80,000 people with low-carbon sources of energy, mitigating more than 250,000 tons of carbon dioxide, and deliver clean water to 8,000 households.
To amplify this impact, Mr. Mungai plans to develop an Africa Center for Sustainability Leadership program, at Strathmore Business School.  This initiative will engage leading international organizations and the private sector to develop future generations of leaders committed to advancing Africa’s corporate sustainability practices.
Successful candidates for EF programs are exceptional leaders eager to advance their personal and professional growth, who can articulate how the fellowship will serve them to produce impactful change and who commit to lifelong engagement with the organization and its nearly 1,500 active Fellows around the world. Fellows apply what they learn from their peers and in their meetings with experts in their respective fields to maximize their potential and produce sustained impact through their fellowship experience and collaboration within the EF global network.
